Pre-Requisite Steps

Thank you for your interest in the Anki-MedRec Hands On Lab (HOL) at the Oracle Code event in Sydney.

Please complete the following steps prior to the event.

  1. Sign up for your free trial on the Oracle Cloud by going to URL provided in the registration email

    Note : You must use the same email address as you used to register for Oracle Code.

  2. Assuming you dont already have an account on GitHub, then SignUp For GitHub

  3. Assuming you dont already have an account on Docker Hub, then SignUp For Docker Hub

  4. As part of the HOL multiple software components will need to be installed in your local development environment. Please note that the software installation instructions provided are generic in nature.

    In order to get the most out of the hands on lab material it would be beneficial if you can do the software installations in your environment prior to participating in the Oracle Code event.

    Installation steps obviously vary depending on the operating system used. Note :

    • Suggested minimum software versions for the Hands-On Lab are Windows 10, Ubuntu 16.04, or Mac OS X.
    • Other systems may work fine but havent been tested.

    Initial setup was done using an Ubuntu 16.04 base image and this is reflected in some of the instructions.

    You may want to use a Virtual Box image to install the required software into. If so, this approach may help you get started; a) Download VirtualBox Software b) Download Ubuntu 16.04 (64 bit) VBox Image

    Make sure you do a package update before each of the install steps below as per the following command;

sudo apt-get update 

Git Client required to pull down the various project repositories

Core software for the API implementation

Client software to exercise the APIs

Optional installations for those who want to explore MedRec in a local Docker context

  1. Bring your laptop to the event.

  2. A Wifi network will be provided for you to connect to.
